Blind Assessment
Both co-cupper Wendy De Jong (89) and Ken (90) found pleasingly and sweetly tart notes (coffee cherry for Wendy, ripe lemon for Ken) complemented by apricot-like stone fruit and a rounding milk chocolate in aroma and cup. Both cuppers were impressed by a “lightly syrupy” (Ken) mouthfeel and a sweet, cocoa-toned finish.
Notes
A prize winner in the 2009 Bolivia Cup of Excellence (www.cupofexcellence.org) competition, where as a green (unroasted) coffee it placed twenty-ninth out of hundreds of entries, attracting a score of 84.33 from an international jury. Barefoot Coffee Roasters is an award-winning small-batch roasting company that claims to be "Making sweet coffee love… in the heart of Silicon Valley." Who Should Drink It
With its acidity perhaps muted by the months since the 2009 harvest but its subtly balanced citrus-through-chocolate character intact, a good choice for those who enjoy a complex, softly bright breakfast cup.
