Blind Assessment
Pungent fresh-cut fir dominates in aroma and cup with complex fruit and floral complication: dark chocolate, plum, a touch of cherryish brandy. Sweetly bright acidity, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The flavor simplifies slightly in an otherwise rich, sweet finish.
Notes
Certified organically grown by farmer Haile Gebre and milled in cooperation with Moredocofe. Southern Ethiopia produces often distinctively floral- and fruit-toned coffees from traditional varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. When processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp is removed before drying) these coffee typically express great aromatic complexity and intensity with a particular emphasis on citrus and floral notes. Located inside Irvine's Layer Cake Bakery, Portola Handcrafted Coffee Roasters is a quality-minded micro-roaster with the motto "World Class, World Friendly." Visit
Who Should Drink It
Less lemon and more aromatic wood and plummy fruit in this slightly darker-roasted, classic wet-processed Ethiopia.
