Blind Assessment
Subtle, deep aromatics: black tea, boysenberry, cedar. Rich, slightly tart, acidity. Silky mouthfeel. The aromatics blossom in a refreshing and balanced cup with rounding and deepening suggestions of nectarine and apricot and a hint of flowers. A cocoa-like note emerges in the finish.
Notes
Grown and processed by Jose Ider Zapata on his three-hectare farm La Coqueta. This sample consists of coffees from trees of the Caturra and Bourbon varieties. An integral part of New York’s coffee renaissance, Brooklyn-based Café Grumpy opened its first café in 2005 and has since expanded to four locations, including its own roasting facility. Who Should Drink It
Both strong-structured and aromatically subtle, with juicy hints of East Africa.
