This coffee is organic and Fair Trade certified, meaning it was purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price. It is also offered under the umbrella of the Café Femenino program, which "provides extra income that goes directly to ... women producers." The grant-funded Café Femenino Foundation (www.cafefemeninofoundation.org) "supports efforts to improve the view of women's roles by supporting programs and projects that generate sales the women can control."
