Blind Assessment
Deeply and sweetly pungent. Sweet, caramelly chocolate balanced by crisp walnut, fresh-cut cedar and spicy, tea-rose-like flowers. Round, rich, gently vibrant acidity. Syrupy but buoyant mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but persists in a clean, resonant finish.
Notes
Ten percent of sales of this coffee are donated to CancerCare, a national non-profit that provides free support services for those affected by cancer diagnosis, as a tribute to Amy Erickson, Caribou’s original roastmaster, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1995 and whose story inspired the Amy’s Blend program. It will be sold and featured at Caribou throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness month. This coffee also is 100% Rainforest Alliance certified, meaning it was produced following sustainable ecological and socio-economic criteria developed by the Sustainable Agricultural Network, a coalition of independent, environment-focused non-governmental organizations. Caribou Coffee is a retail roasting chain based in the upper Middle West whose rather irreverent motto “Life is short. Stay awake for it” belies a serious approach to coffee. Who Should Drink It
Complete, balanced version of a blend with an inspiring story and a good cause. A fat, deep resonance of sensation is perhaps its most striking sensory feature.
