Blind Assessment
Sweet nut and flowers. Brazil nut, plumeria, apple, tangelo, fresh-cut fir in aroma and cup. Round, rich, deeply expressed acidity; syrupy, buoyant mouthfeel. The nut and flower notes deepen and take on a pleasantly savory resonance in a crisp finish.
Notes
Burundi is a small, landlocked country in the Great Lakes region of Central Africa. Most coffee is grown in the mountains of the north, bordering Rwanda. Benefiting from ideal growing conditions and large plantings of the heirloom Bourbon variety of Arabica, Burundi coffee has an excellent reputation, though it is better known in Europe than in the United States. This particular Burundi was processed by the Buhorwa washing station. Drift Away is a subscription-based micro-roaster offering a wide variety of specialty coffees; to kick off a “solo” coffee subscription consumers pay $4.00 and receive four one-ounce samples of different coffees; thereafter they pay $12.00 (shipping included) for seven ounces of a different coffee that arrives every two weeks. Visit www.driftaway.coffee for more information.
