Blind Assessment
Sweet, lyric, finely balanced. Guava, lilac, roasted cacao nib, wild berry in aroma and cup. Lightly but richly pungent acidity; satiny mouthfeel. A brandy hint surfaces in the finish, subtly complicating continued cacao nib and floral suggestions.
Notes
Oromia is a coffee region in southern Ethiopia that produces distinctive coffees from traditional varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. This is a “natural” or dry-processed version, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or “washed” coffees. Hambela Coffee Estate has produced fine coffee since the 1950’s. It is operated by exporter METAD, which also operates the only privately-owned quality-control laboratory in Ethiopia certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA). Topéca Coffee is an artisan roaster with three café locations and a roastery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.Visit www.topecacoffee.com or call 918-398-8022 for more information.
Who Should Drink It
A fine dried-in-the-fruit Ethiopia profile: part yellow guava nectar, part crisp unsweetened chocolate, part sweetly shimmering floral top notes.
