Blind Assessment
Deep, rich. Oak, molasses, dark chocolate, orange zest, pecan in aroma and cup. Round, quiet acidity; plush mouthfeel. Dark chocolate and pecan in particular carry into a sweet, balanced finish.
Notes
Certified organically grown and “Fair for Life” certified by the Institute for Market-Ecology (IMO), a different certifying body from the more familiar Fair Trade USA and its certification, but deploying parallel though somewhat different criteria and methods. Huehuetenango is a particularly admired Guatemala growing region. This is a wet-processed or “washed” coffee, meaning the fruit skin and pulp were removed from the beans immediately after harvesting and before drying. Grounds for Change is a certified organic coffee roaster specializing in sustainable coffee and supporting a wide range of progressive ecological and social programs. The complete carbon footprint (from crop to cup) for this coffee has been offset with tree planting (carbonfund.org).Visit www.groundsforchange.com or call 800-796-6820 for more information.
Who Should Drink It
A sensitive roast on the dark end of medium develops an attractive, chocolaty depth in this classic Guatemala.
