Blind Assessment
Richly and sweetly pungent. Apricot, hazelnut, roasted cacao nib and freesia-like flowers in aroma and cup. Bright, juicy acidity; smooth, satiny mouthfeel. The gently drying finish is redolent of hazelnut with a hint of cacao nib.
Notes
Yirgacheffe is a coffee region in southern Ethiopia that produces distinctive coffees from traditional varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Like virtually all Ethiopia coffees, this coffee is produced by villagers on small garden plots interplanted with food and other subsistence crops. This is a dry-processed or “natural” Yirgacheffe, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or “washed” coffees. Lone Oak Coffee Company’s seven values — relationships, family, community, integrity, quality, education, and responsibility — inform its decisions about coffee from bean to cup. Who Should Drink It
Those who like a classic dried-in-the-fruit Ethiopia that is fruit-forward on the nose and palate and moves toward nutty chocolate tones in the finish.
