Blind Assessment
Delicately but zestily sweet-savory. Black currant, sandalwood, tea rose, pomegranate, lime zest in aroma and cup. Juicy, richly sweet-tart acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. All flavor notes carry through to the rich, flavor-saturated short finish, consolidating in the long around lime zest and pomegranate hints.
Notes
Despite challenges ranging from unclear government coffee policy and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands to chronically unstable weather, the famed Kenya coffee auction system and its participating cooperatives continue to produce some of the world’s most elegant and distinctive coffees. This coffee tied for the second-highest rating in a test of coffees from Australian roasters conducted for Coffee Review‘s June 2016 tasting report. Mecca Coffee’s mission is to serve fine coffee without pretense, encouraging accessibility and transparency. Mecca’s vision is quality-focused in all aspects of product and service, with an aim to educate rather than dictate. For more information, visit www.meccacoffee.com.au.
Bottom Line
Will please those who enjoy the briskly bright, pungent fruit of a classic Kenya.
