Blind Assessment

Delicate, subtly sweet. Dried honeysuckle, cocoa powder, elm, baked apple, almond in aroma and cup. Soft, gentle acidity; full, creamy mouthfeel. The mild, quiet finish is carried by cocoa and nut tones.

Notes

Produced by Esteban Zamora at La Cruz micro-mill from trees of the Caturra and Catuai varieties of Arabica. “Double-washed” refers to the mechanical removal of 70 percent of the fruit flesh or mucilage, then soaking the beans to remove the rest. This coffee tied for the third-highest rating in a cupping of Costa Rica coffees for Coffee Review‘s October 2016 tasting report. Augie’s Coffee Roasters’ mission is to create awareness about the often-overlooked beauties of coffee, from its growth and preparation to its diverse and delicate flavor possibilities. More than just creating drinks for customers, Augie’s wants to create community, develop friendships between people of different backgrounds and connect the world through love and passion for coffee. Visit www.augiescoffeehouse.com for more information.

Bottom Line

A classic washed-style Costa Rica cup: sweet-toned, subtle, balanced. Enjoy it with any sweet pastry accompaniment.
