Blind Assessment
A ready-to-drink bottled black coffee tested over ice. Crisp, citrusy. Pink grapefruit, black currant, cocoa powder, cedar, almond. Roundly sweet-tart structure; taut, satiny mouthfeel. The crisp, citrus-toned finish leads with notes of grapefruit in the short, followed by almond and cocoa. Whole milk rounds the citrus notes and foregrounds the cocoa.
Notes
This coffee earned the fourth-highest rating in a tasting of ready-to-drink bottled black coffees for Coffee Review’s July 2018 tasting report. This coffee is brewed hot under pressurized nitrogen to produce a concentrate that is then cooled, diluted and put into 9.5-ounce cans. A small amount of vitamin C is added to the finished beverage as preservative. Black Medicine is a quality-focused micro-brewer that only produces various forms of cold coffee. Bottom Line
A crisp, clean, refreshingly sweet-tart cold coffee with a citrus throughline.
