Blind Assessment
Very sweet, floral, deeply rich. Date, tangerine zest, fresh pipe tobacco, freesia-like flowers, dark chocolate in aroma and cup. Complex and deeply rich structure; roundly tart acidity. Full, syrupy mouthfeel. The finish is dry but rings with rich tobacco and unsweetened chocolate far into the long.
Notes
Southern Ethiopia coffees like this one are largely produced from distinctive indigenous Ethiopian varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. This is a wet-processed or “washed” coffee, meaning the fruit skin and pulp were removed from the beans immediately after harvesting and before drying. Dou Zhai Coffee is a café and roastery on a quiet lane in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, that offers a wide range of exceptional coffees. Visit www.douzhaicafe.com.tw for more information.
Bottom Line
A deep, satisfying coffee, accessible yet resonantly complex.
