Blind Assessment
Rich-toned, deeply chocolaty and fruity with savory undertones. Chocolate fudge, ripe wild strawberry, honey, macadamia nut, fine Roquefort cheese. Sweet-savory in structure enlivened by bright, juicy acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Savory-sweet finish with notes of fine Roquefort, strawberry, and chocolate fudge.
Notes
This exceptional coffee was selected as the No. 15 coffee on Coffee Review’s list of the Top 30 Coffees of 2019. This coffee also tied for the second-highest rating in a cupping of coffees of the Geisha/Gesha variety of Arabica for Coffee Review’s September 2019 tasting report. Produced by Rigoberto Herrera of Granja La Esperanza entirely of the Geisha variety of Arabica. Processed by an innovative method in which an extended, controlled fermentation of the whole fruit is followed by dehydration in de-humidifiers, then drying on raised, African-style beds. Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is a retailer and wholesaler focused on organic and socially responsible coffees; it was awarded the “2012 Micro-Roaster of the Year” title by Roast Magazine. Bottom Line
A cleanly and thoroughly berry-toned natural-processed Geisha with big chocolate notes throughout and satisfying savory underpinnings.
