Blind Assessment
Complex, deep-toned, confident. Blackberry, violet, roasted coconut, wild honey, blood orange in aroma and cup. Juicy, vibrant acidity; plush, syrupy-smooth mouthfeel. Flavor-laden finish centered around notes of roasted cocoa nut, blood orange and violet.
Notes
Produced by Karen and Lee Paterson, entirely of the SL34 variety of Arabica, and processed by whole-cherry co-fermentation with Kona oranges also grown on the Hula Daddy farm (originally brought to the island in 1792). Roasted by longtime Hula Daddy master roaster Laura Ross. Hula Daddy is a boutique coffee producer with farms at the 1,400 and 2,500-foot levels of the Mount Hualalai volcano near the northern end of the Kona growing district, five minutes above the town of Kailua-Kona. Bottom Line
A lovely Kona-grown SL34 co-fermented with oranges grown on the same farm — nuanced, rich, compelling throughout the profile.
