Blind Assessment
Evaluated as espresso produced in a Nespresso-recommended ristretto 25ml (.85-ounce) shot by a Nespresso capsule espresso brewer with whole milk heated using a conventional steam wand. Rich, deep, dark chocolaty. Hints of cedar and perhaps lemon. The mouthfeel is full, perhaps a bit heavy. Clean, simple, rather deep finish. Imparts a sweet, wood-toned chocolate and syrupy mouthfeel to three parts whole milk.
Notes
This espresso was produced in Switzerland for the Nespresso capsule espresso system. This blend incorporates what the Nespresso literature describes as “a touch” of coffee of the Robusta species, with origin not indicated. The Nespresso line offers sixteen different non-flavored blend capsules, twelve designed for espresso brewing and four intended to produce Northern-European-style long black or "lungo" (four-ounce) servings. The Nespresso capsules are coded by color and presented in boxes arrayed like precious bonbons, glowing in their contrasting matte-aluminum finishes. Nespresso is a brand and separate business unit of the Swiss-based Nestlé Corporation. Visit
Who Should Drink It
In many respects a classic authoritative Italian-style short shot for Nespresso owners, deep with dark chocolate and aromatic cedar, although a very slight flat woodiness shadowed the shot produced by our samples.
