Blind Assessment
Elegant flower-bomb. Exhilarating, refreshing meadow flowers, roasted cacao nib, almond in aroma and cup. Delicate, balanced structure. Soft but lively acidity; smooth, plush mouthfeel. Gently but decisively flavor-saturated finish.
Notes
This exceptional coffee was selected as the #19 coffee in the Coffee Review Top 30 Coffees of 2013. From trees of the Yellow Caturra variety of Arabica. Processed by the honey method, which means that the outer skin of the coffee fruit is removed as it is in the wet process, after which some but not all of the sticky fruit residue is removed, allowing a layer to remain on the bean during drying. Puna is the easternmost district of the Big Island of Hawaii, literally on the other side of the island from the far more famous Kona district. From a three-acre farm in Puna owned and operated by Kelleigh Stewart and Brandon von Damitz, who did just about everything related to this coffee, from pruning to roasting.
