Soft, smooth aroma combining night flowers, orange and molasses. Elegantly penetrating, fruit toned acidity, lightly syrupy mouthfeel and a lush, juicy complex of flavors: citrus, apricot, black currant and flowers. The flavors linger long into the crisp, clean finish.
Extraordinary dried-in-the-fruit profile. Lushly fruit-toned and brandyish, yet crisp with savory wood notes. Blueberry, cherry, brandy-nuanced dark chocolate, aromatic wood, night flowers in aroma and cup, carrying into the finish. A slight hint of salt in the finish as well, but the fruit-and-brandy sweetness rings on.
Crisply but pungently sweet: molasses, fir and flowers in aroma and cup. Gentle acidity, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The flavor fades in the finish but the sweetness remains.
Price: $11.95/12 oz.
Intense aroma: caramel, nut, molasses. In the cup bright-toned acidity and lightly syrupy mouthfeel, with a lemon note that enlivens continued complications of caramel, nut, and molasses that hints at dark chocolate. The molasses and nut in particular carry into a rich, dry finish.
Sampled as an ESE pod on a FrancisFrancis! pod brewer. In both aroma and flavor roasted nut, aromatic wood and milk chocolate with hints of flowers, fruit and honey. Full body with a lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The finish is rich and sweet in the short but heavy in the long. In two parts milk deeply bittersweet with continued chocolate and aromatic wood notes.
Evaluated as espresso. Suggestions of flowers, aromatic wood and a vanilla-infused dark chocolate in the aroma. In the small cup medium body and deeper flavors leaning toward black cherry and molasses. Sustains character in two parts milk: aromatic wood, dark chocolate, even a hint of flowers and vanilla.
Lush, berry-sweet aroma with notes of honey, aromatic wood, and night flowers. In the cup, lightly syrupy mouthfeel, bright acidity, with an orangy sweet citrus character complicated by continued suggestions of berry and aromatic wood. A very mild astringency distracts from an otherwise sweet, fruit-toned finish.
Distinct rose-like floral notes, nut-toned chocolate and molasses in aroma and cup. Balanced acidity, silky mouthfeel. The short finish is rich and deep, thinning slightly in the long.
Price: CAD $38.37/32 oz.
Big round floral aroma with notes of sweet berry, stone fruit and dark chocolate. In the cup, lightly syrupy mouthfeel and rich acidity; suggestions of peach and apricot intensify as does the berry-toned dark chocolate. Although some fruit complexity is lost in the finish, a cocoaish sweetness lingers far into the long.
Price: CAD $29.35 /32 oz.
Crisp and refined aroma: butter, nut, and delicate hints of aromatic wood and baking spices. Penetrating, fruit-toned acidity, silky mouthfeel and delicate flavors that suggest orange, flowers, peas and nut. Aromatic wood remerges in the finish, along with a dry, orange-toned chocolate in the long.
Roundly balanced and deep. Flowers, orangy fruit and molasses in the aroma. In the cup soft, integrated acidity, syrupy mouthfeel, with the continuing orange-toned fruit and molasses adding a distinct chocolate complication. The chocolate and molasses carry into a richly sweet finish haunted, as the cup cools, by a faint wisp of flavor-flattening wood.
Sweet-toned aroma and flavor: caramel, dark chocolate, aromatic wood and a hint of fruit. Soft but distinct acidity and a round, silky mouthfeel. A richly sweet short finish gives way to a slightly papery astringency in the long.
Softly roasty aroma with hints of aromatic wood and molasses. Smooth, balanced and chocolaty in the cup with complications of orange and fresh-cut wood. Simplifies in the finish with the wood note lingering.
Sweet, rich, almost fermenty fruit character. In the aroma dark chocolate, molasses, raisin and a hint of fresh-cut fir. In the cup backgrounded acidity, syrupy mouthfeel, continued raisiny chocolate and pungent fir notes. Simplifies as the cup cools.
Nut and fresh-cut wood dominate the delicate aroma, softened by a hint of chocolate. In cup and finish the cocoaish chocolate becomes richer and more explicit, though a faint woody flatness (probably decaffeination-related) continues to haunt the cup. Attractive, lightly syrupy mouthfeel.
Robust, earthy blend. Aromatic wood, roasted nut and earth notes in both aroma and cup. The nut note turns a bit rawish in the cup, but everything smoothes and plumps up nicely in a rich finish. Backgrounded acidity, full mouthfeel.
Bright, sweetly tart. Distinct orange-toned nut in the aroma. In the cup, delicate acidity, leanish but smooth mouthfeel, and continued rich orange, cocoa and nut notes carrying into a flavor-saturated finish that turns rather woody and simple as the cup cools.
Soft, delicately muted coffee. Sweet cocoa, bittersweet dark chocolate and nut in the aroma. In the cup backgrounded acidity and flavors of fruit, aromatic wood and continued chocolate. Simple but sweet finish.
Rich aroma, with round notes of bittersweet dark chocolate and nut. In the cup a sweeter, orange-toned chocolate emerges, becoming more pronounced as the cup cools. Softly astringent finish with hints of fruit and a mildly bitterish nut.
Delicately rich and fruit-toned. In the aroma distinct cocoaish chocolate complicated by fresh-cut fir. In the cup soft, wine-like acidity, lightly syrupy mouthfeel, and continued fruit-inflected chocolate. A very slight sourish note (probably decaffeination-related) turns up as the cup cools, compromising an otherwise long, resonant finish.
