Blind Assessment
Impressive aroma: dark chocolate, a hint of pungent, grapefruity citrus. Both fade in the cup and disappear entirely in a heavily astringent, roast-flattened finish. Lean, watery mouthfeel.
Notes
Purchased pre-ground in a sealed 12-ounce foil-laminated bag with one-way valve at a Safeway supermarket in northern California; 67 cents per dry ounce. Composed of 100% Arabica coffees. Visit
Who Should Drink It
Once past the aroma not much here. A whole-bean version of this blend bought from a Starbucks store doubtless would maintain more of the initially pleasing aromatics.
