Blind Assessment
Delicately sweet-tart, richly and intricately aromatic, deep-toned. Dried hibiscus flowers, bergamot, frankincense, lychee, boysenberry in aroma and cup. Confidently sweet-tart structure with sparkling acidity; silky, buoyant mouthfeel. The long, lingering flavor-saturated finish intoxicatingly blurs fruit and floral notes.
Notes
This exceptional coffee was selected as the No. 5 coffee on Coffee Review’s list of the Top 30 Coffees of 2020. A green coffee from Ardent Coffees, a newer specialized exporter of Ethiopia coffees. Southern Ethiopia coffees like this one are largely produced from distinctive indigenous Ethiopian landrace varieties of Arabica long grown in their respective regions. This is a dry-processed or “natural” version (coffee is dried inside the entire fruit). JBC Coffee Roasters’ vision is simple: “let the coffee lead the way” through sourcing and roasting the best and most unique coffees available and rewarding the farmers who grow those coffees with substantial premiums. Bottom Line
A natural-processed Ethiopia cup unique and thrilling in its dried fruit and floral aromatics carried by a flawless structure: high-toned, elegant, complex, complete.
