Blind Assessment
Distinctly brandy-toned, sweet yet briskly pungent. Cleanly expressed brandy, strawberry-like fruit, dark chocolate, night-blooming flowers in aroma and cup. Round, gently vibrant acidity; lightly syrupy, very buoyant and lively mouthfeel. Rich, deep, profoundly flavor-saturated finish.
Notes
This exceptional coffee was selected as the #30 coffee in the Coffee Review Top 30 Coffees of 2014. Flor de Santos or Flower of Saints is an exclusive selection of coffees produced by the Don Mayo Coffee Mill in the Tarrazu region of Costa Rica. Flor de Santos coffees have consistently attracted high ratings in Cup of Excellence juried green coffee competitions. This lot is composed entirely of beans from the heirloom Bourbon variety of Arabica and is a dry-processed or “natural” coffee, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or “washed” coffees. Return Coffee Roastery is a distinguished micro-roaster based in Hong Kong that specializes in extremely high-end coffees
Who Should Drink It
No super fireworks here, but a fine, balanced, crisply sweet structure with a svelte and very engaging range of lightly and cleanly brandy-toned aromatics.
