Blind Assessment
Distinct sweetly tart fruit notes (grapefruit, passion fruit, guava), pungent fresh-cut fir, with rounding hints of chocolate and plum in aroma and cup. Quiet, delicate acidity; light but smoothly silky mouthfeel. Sweet, long, gently flavor-saturated finish.
Notes
The high mountain valleys of central Papua New Guinea offer some of the world's most favorable terroirs for production of fine coffee, although the rugged terrain presents daunting transportation and infrastructure challenges. This Papua New Guinea is organically grown by small-holding farmers in Wau who are members of a cooperative associated with Monpi Sustainable Services, an organization devoted to sustainability. Decaffeinated by the "Water Process" method, which does not involve use of solvents. Groundwork is a small-batch coffee roaster based in North Hollywood, California whose motto “Sustainability, Quality, Community” is expressed in part by maintaining organic certification for their facilities and products. Who Should Drink It
An unusual opportunity for decaf drinkers to enjoy the sweetly tart, grapefruity character of a fine Papua New Guinea coffee offered as a single-origin.
