Blind Assessment
Sweet, crisp, meadowy, fresh. Honeydew melon, fresh-cut fir, orange zest, clover blossom in aroma and cup. Crisp, balanced structure; satiny mouthfeel. The finish is citrusy, savory-sweet, resonant.
Notes
Ecuador hosts the Taza Dorada (“Golden Cup”) green coffee competition annually. This is the second-place winner of the 2018 competition. Produced entirely from trees of the Sidra variety of Arabica, a hybrid of the old and respected varieties Red Bourbon and Typica. This is a dry-processed or “natural” coffee, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or “washed” coffees. 94 Fresh Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster based in Kaohsiung City that specializes in espresso, including training and machine sales. Bottom Line
A sweetly bright yet roundly savory rendition of the rare Sidra varietal.
