Blind Assessment
Evaluated as espresso. Complexly structured: quite sweet with a tart and bitterish balance. Honey, tangerine, dark chocolate, hints of flowers and apricot in aroma and small cup. Full, buttery mouthfeel. The short finish is sweet and gently flavor saturated; the long turns richly drying. Pronounced presence in milk: fat-bodied, chocolaty, with a hint of flowers.
Notes
Composed entirely of beans from the heirloom Bourbon variety of Arabica and prepared by the honey method, meaning the skin was removed from the coffee fruit immediately after picking but the beans or seeds were dried with at least some of the fruit pulp or “honey” still adhering to them. Klatch Coffee is an award-winning small-batch roasting company in the Los Angeles area whose resident barista and trainer, Heather Perry, won both the 2003 and 2007 United States Barista Championships brewing a Klatch Coffee espresso blend. Who Should Drink It
A strong-gestured espresso: authoritative and complex as a straight shot, pronounced in short milk, and impressively persistent in longer milk.
