Blind Assessment
Deeply sweet, fruit-toned. Ripe banana, brown sugar, clover flowers, pipe tobacco, brandy in aroma and cup. Sweetly tart structure, with quietly vibrant acidity; delicate, satiny mouthfeel. The gently drying finish consolidates to notes of pipe tobacco and banana with hints of brandy.
Notes
Coffees from the Yirgacheffe region like this one are largely produced from traditional Ethiopian varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Processed by “natural” or dry method, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or “washed” coffees. Most Yirgacheffe coffees are produced by villagers on small, garden plots interplanted with food and other subsistence crops. Kunshan Kokei co., LTD is a subsidiary of Shunda Food, a Shanghai-based food and beverage manufacturer with a commitment to specialty coffee. Bottom Line
An accessible natural-processed Ethiopia cup, slightly darker-roasted than is typical, with notes of tropical fruit and a pleasing brandy-like ferment.
