Blind Assessment
Deeply and richly sweet. Strawberry, peach, sandalwood, almond butter, chrysanthemum in aroma and cup. Sweetly tart structure; crisp, satiny mouthfeel. The quiet finish consolidates around notes of almond and sandalwood.
Notes
This coffee tied for the third-highest rating in a cupping of Value Coffees for Coffee Review‘s March 2018 tasting report. Southern Ethiopia coffees like this one are produced from distinctive traditional Ethiopian varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Like virtually all southern Ethiopia coffees, this coffee is produced by villagers on small garden plots interplanted with food and other subsistence crops. This is a wet-processed or “washed” coffee, meaning the fruit skin and pulp were removed from the beans immediately after harvesting and before drying. Java Blend Coffee Roasters is a small-batch roasting company owned and operated by the same family since 1938. It custom roasts and delivers coffee within two days of ordering throughout most of the Maritime Provinces of Canada. Visit www.javablendcoffee.com or call 877-596-5282 for more information.
Bottom Line
A classic Ethiopia cup: balanced, bright and deeply sweet, with notes of berry and stone fruit.
