Blind Assessment
Deep, intense, pungently fruity aroma; think grapefruit. Rich, balanced acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Continued complexly sweet yet pungent fruit dominates in the cup: grapefruit, lemon, blackberry, black currant. Rich, flavor-saturated finish.
Notes
Hula Daddy is a boutique coffee farm at the 1,400 foot level of the Mount Hualalai volcano near the northern end of the Kona growing district, five minutes above the town of Kailua-Kona. Extra Fancy is the highest grade of Kona coffee mainly based on bean size, but the exceptional character of this coffee is probably more owing to fastidious harvesting, fruit removal and drying than to size of the bean. This coffee was selected and processed under the supervision of Miguel Meza, one of specialty coffee's young visionaries. Visit www.huladaddy.com or call 888-553-2339 for more information.
Who Should Drink It
Aficionados interested in a coffee with a depth and range of aromatic expression that seems to define an almost singular sensory niche, brighter than Sumatra but deeper than East Africa.
