Blind Assessment
Sweet-toned, crisply chocolaty. Baking chocolate, hazelnut, red apple, cedar, Meyer lemon zest in aroma and cup. Gentle, round acidity; lightly satiny, buoyant mouthfeel. Finish consolidates to notes of baking chocolate and hazelnut.
Notes
Produced at Monarch Farm, entirely of the Kona Typica variety of Arabica, and processed by the traditional washed method (fruit skin and pulp removed before drying). The Hapa is a blend of three roast levels: light, medium and dark. Monarch Coffee is an award-winning coffee farm and specialty roaster of 100% estate-grown Kona coffee on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Visit www.monarchcoffee.com for more information.
Bottom Line
A pleasingly familiar Kona profile that’s a post-roast melange with top notes of citrus zest and depth from rich chocolate notes.
