Blind Assessment
Extravagantly complex, crisply lush. Night-blooming flowers, vanilla, guava, roasted cocoa nib in aroma and cup. Brisk but juicy acidity; light, silky mouthfeel. Flavor, particularly the floral notes, lasts far into a deep, sweet finish.
Notes
This exceptional coffee was selected as the #20 coffee in the Coffee Review Top 30 Coffees of 2013. Ethiopian coffees like this one processed by the wet or washed method (fruit skin and pulp is removed before drying) typically express floral and citrus notes with particular intensity. This extraordinary coffee produced from a mix of native Ethiopian heirloom varieties is brought into the U.S. by boutique exporter/importer Ninety Plus Coffee. This is one of Café del Mundo’s “Black Cup” line of select coffees. Café del Mundo was Alaska’s first coffee roaster, opening in 1975, and since has evolved both with Alaska and with the American fine coffee scene.
