Blind Assessment
Intensely aromatic, delicately fruit-forward. Milk chocolate, orange zest, cedar, candied apple, hint of narcissus in aroma and cup. Gently brisk acidy; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Fruit-toned chocolate in the crisp finish.
Notes
Produced by smallholding members of the Othaya Cooperative, entirely of the SL28 variety of Arabica, and processed by the natural method (dried in the whole fruit). Certifications: Fair Trade Africa. Fulcrum Coffee Roasters is a Seattled-based wholesale coffee roaster and retailer with two cafes, one in Seattle and one in Mountlake Terrace. Visit www.fulcrumcoffee.com.
Bottom Line
An unusual Kenya in that it’s natural-processed (dried in the whole fruit), a departure from the country’s typical washed processing: richly aromatic and fruit-driven.
