Blind Assessment
Balanced, sweetly savory. Red currant, almond nougat, cocoa nib, pink grapefruit zest, maple syrup in aroma and cup. Crisp, citrusy acidity; velvety-smooth mouthfeel. Red currant and cocoa nib lead in the confident finish, with undertones of pink grapefruit zest.
Notes
Produced by the smallholders of the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society from trees of the SL-28, Ruiru 11 and Batian varieties of Arabica. Processed at Kamwangi Washing Station by the particularly meticulous Kenya variation on the traditional wet or “washed” method (fruit skin and flesh are removed from the beans before they are dried). Speedwell Coffee, based in Plymouth, Massachusetts, is a wholesale and retail specialty roaster particularly dedicated to offering attractive coffee subscription plans. Bottom Line
Classic currant and cocoa notes are front and center in this even-keeled, inviting Kenya cup, complicated by rich nut and complex citrus notes.
