Blind Assessment
Complex, engaging, sweetly tart. Toffee, tamarind, violet, black truffle, dark chocolate in aroma and cup. Brisk, floral acidity; fudgy mouthfeel. Toffee notes, this coffee’s throughline, are accompanied by tamarind in the resonant short and dark chocolate in the sweet, crisp long.
Notes
Produced from trees of the Bourbon-derived SL28 and SL34 varieties of Arabica. Grown by farmers of the Gitwe cooperative, which operates two wet mills, Karatu and Kariuga, and is composed of 1,868 farmer-members. Despite grower discontent and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands, Kenya continues to produce some of the world’s most elegant and distinctive coffees. Greater Goods was founded in 2015; its mission is to enrich the lives of coffee-drinkers through passion, creativity, innovation and a commitment to the consistency of the specialty coffee the company roasts as well as to the local causes supported by its proceeds. Bottom Line
A compelling confluence of sweet, tart and floral notes, with a hint of umami intrigue in both the aroma and cup.
