Blind Assessment
Sweetly and lyrically bright. Peach, tangerine, vanilla, rose-like flowers, hints of musk and fir in aroma and cup. Sweetly and richly tart acidity; syrupy, lively mouthfeel. The peach, tangerine and rose notes carry into a pleasingly tart finish.
Notes
This exceptional coffee was selected as the #23 coffee in the Coffee Review Top 30 Coffees of 2014. This coffee took a somewhat atypical path to market for a Kenya, in that it was purchased directly from the producer rather than through the Kenya state auction system. Produced exclusively from trees of the admired, Bourbon-derived SL28 and SL34 varieties of Arabica. Despite grower discontent and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands, Kenya continues to produce some of the world’s most elegant and distinctive coffees. Wonderstate Coffee, formerly Kickapoo Coffee, is an award-winning roaster based in rural Wisconsin known for their commitment to guaranteeing higher pay for farmers and being the country’s first 100% solar powered roastery. Who Should Drink It
Those who appreciate the powerful but sweet acidity of a very pure, finely nuanced Kenya.
