Blind Assessment
Complex, intense, classic. Pungent black currant, blackberry, plum, night-blooming flowers, fresh-cut cedar in aroma and cup. Sweetly balanced, lavishly rich acidity. Big, syrupy mouthfeel. The pungent berry notes in particular carry into a deep, long, flavor-saturated finish.
Notes
Despite grower discontent and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands, Kenya continues to produce some of the world's most elegant and distinctive coffees. This sample consists entirely of peaberries, a kind of bean that results when the coffee fruit develops only a single, oval bean rather than the usual pair of flat-sided beans. Peaberries produce a somewhat different (often better) cup than normal beans from the same crop, from which they may or may not be separated during grading. Papa Lin's Coffee Roasting is a very small, “nano” roaster located in Yorktown Heights, New York, that features customized roasting profiles for every customer. Visit
Who Should Drink It
In particular, those who enjoy the grand style of Kenya, big, juicy, bright, crisp, but anyone who wants a fine breakfast cup as arresting as it is balanced.
