Blind Assessment
Evaluated as espresso. Intense; sweetly and roundly bright. Crisply nut-toned chocolate and very sweet, very zesty, very complex citrus (tangerine, lemon) in aroma and small cup. Relatively light in body but surprisingly syrupy in mouthfeel. The bright, fresh citrus carries into a very rich finish and dominates pleasingly in three parts milk; think lemon tart with a rounding suggestion of chocolate.
Notes
From the Deri Kochoha mill in the Hagere Maryame District, a little south of the famous Yirgacheffe growing region of Ethiopia, where coffees from local heirloom trees are subject to classically rigorous, traditional processing and drying procedures. JBC Coffee Roasters (formerly Johnson Brothers Coffee Roasters) is a distinguished small-batch roasting company. Visit www.jbccoffeeroasters.com or call 608-256-5282 for more information.
Who Should Drink It
This is the newer style of American espresso at its finest: bright, exciting, utterly distinctive in the small cup and in milk.
