Blind Assessment
Delicate but deep; resonantly intricate. Lush rose, roasted cacoa-nib, mango chutney, blood orange, frankincense-like aromatic wood in aroma and cup. Bright, juicy, complex acidity; lightly silky, plush mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates but saturates a long finish.
Notes
Yirgacheffe is a coffee region in southern Ethiopia that produces distinctive coffees from traditional varieties of Arabica long grown in the region. Like virtually all Ethiopia coffees, this coffee is produced by villagers on small, garden plots interplanted with food and other subsistence crops. This Yirgacheffe was sourced and exported by Levelup Coffee, a relatively new international coffee production company that produces mid-sized lots of green coffees with consistent and distinctive cup profiles. It is the creation of the team that developed Ninety Plus, the admired Panama- and Ethiopia-based producer of small-lot, high-end coffees. Bar Nine Collective is a premium micro-roaster offering a simple menu of high-end coffees only, whether in its sleek café or for brewing at home. Who Should Drink It
A particularly deep and complex version of the great wet-processed Yirgacheffe profile: The incense-like aromatic wood note gives resonance and depth to the pungent fruit and lush flowers.
