Blind Assessment
Crisp, with a spicy, savory edge. Fresh-cut cedar, roasted cacao nib, hints of cumin, sage and sweet root vegetable in aroma and cup. Balanced structure; soft acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The chocolate suggestion sweetens in the finish.
Notes
Malawi is an origin seldom seen on North American specialty coffee menus. Malawi stretches along the west side of Lake Malawi in southeastern Africa and typically produces rather soft, balanced coffees. This Malawi adds some spicy and savory complexity. Apparently produced on the high Zomba Plateau in southern Malawi. With two locations in Southern California's Orange County, Kéan Coffee is an in-house coffee roaster and retailer established by Martin Diedrich of the distinguished Diedrich coffee family. The Kéan slogan, "Martin knows his beans" should be true, considering Martin grew up in Guatemala where his family owned a coffee farm.Visit www.keancoffee.com or call 949-933-9164 for more information.
