Blind Assessment
Richly chocolaty, sweetly fruit-toned. Baking chocolate, raspberry jam, almond, cedar, lemon balm in aroma and cup. Sweet structure with brisk acidity; full, syrupy mouthfeel. Crisply chocolaty finish supported by suggestions of raspberry and cedar.
Notes
This version of the ancient Mocha-Java blend combines a traditionally processed, wet-hulled Sumatra in place of the original Java and replaces the Yemen Mocha with two coffees from Ethiopia, one washed and one natural-processed. Certified USDA Organic and Fair Trade. Founded in 1995 by Brooke McDonnell and Helen Russell, Equator Coffees operates retail stores in the San Francisco Bay Area and southern California and provides coffee to hundreds of wholesale accounts. Bottom Line
A modern Mocha-Java blend based on the traditional Java and Yemen combination. This version swaps out these origins for Sumatra and Ethiopia, but retains the fruit and chocolate character attributed to the original legendary blend.
