Blind Assessment
Juicy and sweet both in aroma and cup: pungent notes of citrus and cocoa with soft hints of lavender flowers and honey. Assertive but smooth acidity and a lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Clean finish: gentle cocoa character complicated by continuing fruit and floral hints.
Notes
Coffees from trees of the botanical variety "Gesha" or "Geisha" grown on farmer Price Peterson's Hacienda La Esmeralda in Panama have consistently attracted record-breaking prices over the past several years. With its long, boat-shaped beans and distinctive floral and chocolate cup, the Esmeralda Panama Gesha continues as one of the world's most unique coffees. "Mario" refers to the area of the farm where this particular lot was grown, and "Carnival" the time of year when it was harvested, in this case relatively early during February, thus associating it with pre-Lenten Carnival festivities. Paradise Roasters prides itself on roasting and shipping coffee only after orders are placed. Its metaphoric mission is to bring some paradisiacal warmth from the coffee-growing south to the cool environs of Minnesota. Visit www.paradiseroasters.com or call 763-433-0626 for more information.
