Blind Assessment

Quiet, complete; complexly chocolate- and fruit-toned. Dark chocolate, ripe black cherry, coconut, cashew, complex flowers (lavender, honeysuckle) in aroma and cup. The structure is sweetly juicy with a slight, deepening bitter edge. Light but satiny, lively mouthfeel. Drying though sweet finish, saturated with chocolate and flowers.

Notes

This exceptional coffee was selected as the No. 29 coffee on Coffee Review’s list of the Top 30 Coffees of 2017.  Certified organically grown, and processed by the traditional wet or “washed” method, in which skin and fruit flesh are removed from the beans or seeds before they are dried. This coffee tied for the third-highest rating in a tasting of nearly 130 darker-roasted coffees for Coffee Review‘s August 2017 tasting report. Black Coffee Roasting is a small-batch craft roaster focusing on organic coffees only and sustainable packaging and business practices. Bottom Line

Quiet, elegant Peru, with chocolate and ripe fruit notes rounded and deepened by a very tactful, backgrounded medium-dark roast.
