Blind Assessment
Round, sweet-toned, gently plush. Cocoa, flowers, plum-like fruit in aroma and cup. Delicate, crisp acidity; light but smooth mouthfeel. Flavor carries into a gently rich finish.
Notes
Despite great potential as a producer of fine coffee owing to high growing elevations and well-established plantings of traditional varieties of Arabica, Tanzania has struggled as a coffee producer owing to poorly developed infrastructure. Nevertheless, the soft, delicate cup often associated with southwestern Tanzania is displayed in this graceful offering from Kéan Coffee. With two locations in Southern California's Orange County, Kéan Coffee is an in-house coffee roaster and retailer established by Martin Diedrich of the distinguished Diedrich coffee family. The Kéan slogan, "Martin knows his beans" should be true, considering Martin grew up in Guatemala where his family owned a coffee farm.
