Blind Assessment
Complex, deeply expressed aroma: molasses, dark chocolate, slightly scorched cedar, a hit of flowers. Richly tart acidity; heavy, syrupy mouthfeel. The complex aromatics carry into cup and finish, where a tart astringency jostles with a continued chocolate-and-molasses sweetness.
Notes
This is a dry-processed or "natural" coffee, meaning the beans were dried inside the fruit rather than after the fruit has been removed, as is the case with wet-processed or "washed" coffees. Uganda, situated in the Great Lakes region of central Africa at the headwaters of the Nile, is the original home of Coffea canephora, or Robusta. Uganda also produces excellent wet-processed Arabicas, however, like this one grown by villagers on small plots. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is one of the country's leading specialty roasters, offering a particularly wide-ranging variety of origins and roast styles. Who Should Drink It
Those who enjoy deep, authoritative, richly stated coffees with a hint of roasty pungency.
