Blind Assessment
(As brewed in a Keurig B70 Platinum single-serve brewing device using a Keurig-compatible capsule to produce a 6-ounce serving): Intense but sweet-toned and balanced. Caramel, black currant, cocoaish chocolate, a hint of lavender in aroma and cup. Round, sweet, red-wine-toned acidity; smooth, lightly syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor consolidates around hints of lavender and chocolate in a crisp finish.
Notes
This coffee is sold pre-ground in capsules that are compatible with the Keurig brewing system, but which use a different design from Keurig K-Cups. This design produces a more intense cup than do conventional K-Cups, but it also offers less protection from oxygen for the ground coffee, so consumers should do their best to obtain these excellent K-cups as fresh after roasting and packaging as possible. Despite grower discontent, confusing government coffee policy and urban encroachment on prime coffee lands, the famed Kenya coffee auction system and its participating cooperatives continue to produce some of the world's most elegant and distinctive coffees. Mystic Monk Coffee is a small-batch roaster associated with a Carmelite monastery located in the Rocky Mountains of northern Wyoming. The monks emphasize an artisan approach to roasting and a commitment to quality. Visit www.mysticmonkcoffee.com or call 877-751-6377 for more information.
Who Should Drink It
A very fine, full-flavored rendition of the sweet, berry-toned pungency of a fine Kenya in Keurig-compatible format, although any Keurig owner looking for a breakfast cup with character should enjoy this one. Try to get it fresh.
